Spring Trend: Culottes

Well I did it!

I purchased the black culottes from Biba and I'm very excited as I'll be wearing them tonight for my night out dining with four fabulous girlfriends.

What I'm loving about the ones I've gone for is how they look just like a midi skirt but they are not!  This gives me as much freedom as I'm currently enjoying with my latest black jumpsuit from Phase Eight - easy, versatile and yet stylish!

I've opted for black as for the most part I plan to wear them in the office; again you can easily dress culottes up or down according to your plans - I originally wasn't much of a fan of this trend, but after seeing these styled by Victoria Beckham and Demi Moore, I thought I'd try a pair and I'm so glad I did.

One tip I would suggest - avoid flats.  Some lengths may not finish where a typical skirt does and so lengthen your legs with some heels - wedges are fine too, but with flats you may end up looking a little stumpy on the calf.

Tonight I will be teaming these culottes with a satin black vest top and a black lace cardigan that I've now had for about 20 years!  - I love this cardigan as it adds an evening feel to simple black garments.

I'll be accessorising with black stilettos, my vintage looking black clutch and jewellery of silver and pearls.  For a burst of colour I will have bright orange nails, Chanel's "Holiday" plus orange lippy to complement.

Spring Trend: Double Denim

I love denim, always have, always will.

Now double-denim is sometimes in, and sometimes well… Not!  If your a fan like me, you'll be pleased to hear it's currently in!!!

Now true double-denim is wearing two blues and not really blue with black denim.  One of the best ways to get inspiration is to check out #doubledenim on Instagram - you'll see by the pics below just how fab this trend is.

I purchased my denim shirt earlier this year from Mango, it's a lovely soft denim and it was only something like £29 - I've worn it loads.  My jeans are currently from NEXT, my usual brand is Levi's but the NEXT skinny range have been really good and they are only £24 per pair!

My denim jacket - well this is from DKNY and I purchased it about fifteen years ago in New York!  Every now and then I think about giving it away to charity but then when I come to buy a new one, it's so similar to this one that I simply don't bother - I think this is it's fifth season of it being "in", well they say fashion goes round and round and this is a great example of that!

With this colour of denim blue, I love to accessorise with tan coloured accessories - here's an instagram pic of mine from a few weeks ago of tan & gold accessories, perfect for the double denim look!

I'm Loving!

A simple post about a few things I'm loving at the moment; some I've purchased and some I've tried on so they are now on my "next purchase" list.

This Spring it's all about floral as seen on all the catwalk shows!  You can invest in floral in so many ways, I've chosen this jumper from Warehouse.  I've had lots of fab compliments about it - and I can dress it up or down!

Sticking with Trainers, I needed to buy some new ones - and I purchased these lovely trainers by Nike from Office - I'm currently living in them so I've already achieved my value vs. cost model!!  Great for springtime and summer, available in a variety of colours I've gone for light silver.

I couldn't find them online, but you can purchase these from any great trainer shop!

I spent a lot of time in the Biba concession of House of Fraser last weekend; I think I tried on nearly every garment they had!!  I fell for these culottes in a big way, I've not yet purchased but I think I will be - especially after seeing Demi Moore wearing them at a recent party, which you read more about here.

But I did make purchase surprisingly from Phase Eight - I spotted this black jumpsuit.  From the moment I tried it on I just knew it was for me!  I've already worn it to the office, and I know it's going to be versatile for the lunch dates or evenings out too!
